Why is it so important to maintain soil microbial life? Aren't bacteria and fungi the ones that infect my plant and make it sick? These questions may arise in the less experienced grower, and the answer to this last question is both yes and no.

Of course, there are pathogenic bacteria and fungi that cause plant diseases, such as root rot, etc. In fact, they are almost always present, but they do not always create problems. This is because they need a certain set of conditions to do so. To prevent their proliferation and the associated problems, you need to keep the root environment in an optimal state. Good oxygenation will do most of the work, and to achieve this, it is key to properly manage irrigation and avoid waterlogging.

But we must not forget the beneficial microorganisms.

So what is the function of beneficial bacteria? Lots of them! Some of the most important ones for us and our plants are:
